Judicial overreach in Israel and the Proper Perspective on International Law
from The Pulse of Israel · host Avi Abelow
Israel's Supreme Court just dealt with a case against one of Israel's basic laws, which, until now, had been deemed constitutional-like and hence off-limits for Supreme Court scrutiny. In addition, more human rights abusers will now be sitting on the United Nations Humans Rights Committee, raising the question about world bodies always attacking Israel for "human rights" abuses, while they tolerate and honor actual human rights abusing countries. I had the opportunity to speak with Professor Avi Bell of Bar Ilan University, University of San Diego and a Senior Fellow at the Kohelet Policy forum about these issues, specifically the judicial overreach in Israel and the proper perspective for Israel regarding "International law".
