Das war der Refrain der Eltern der Babyboomer - für deren Kinder kann es aber höchstens heißen: Seid froh, wenn es Euch nochmal annähernd so gut geht wie uns!Autorin Julia Friedrichs meint sogar, die Generation nach den Babyboomern sei die erste nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg, der es mehrheitlich wirtschaftlich schlechter geht als ihren Eltern. Und das trotz lange währenden Boomens der Wirtschaft. Friedrichs stellt fest: "Die Mehrheit in diesem Land besitzt kaum Kapital, kein Vermögen. Doch sich Wohlstand aus eigener Kraft zu erarbeiten ist schwieriger geworden, insbesondere für die, die heute unter 45 sind. Die Hälfte von ihnen fürchtet, im Alter arm zu sein".Die Autorin analysiert in ihrem aktuellen Buch die Ursachen für diesen Umbruch und hat dafür bei Wissenschaftlern, Experten und Politikern recherchiert. Sie hat jedoch zusätzlich auch noch ganz normale Menschen porträtiert, die mal voller Hoffnung in ihr Arbeitsleben gestartet sind - und dann herbe enttäuscht wurden. Reinigungskräfte, LehrerInnen, Dienstleisterinnen, all die Menschen, die täglich zur Arbeit gehen und dann "merken, dass es doch nicht reicht". Friedrichs nennt sie "die ungehörte Hälfte des Landes". Dieses Buch erzählt ihre Geschichte.
