Julia Rudakova Breathwork _ Breathing _Breathe Better Live Better_

from Julia Rudakova, Breathwork · host April Mahoney

http://oxygenrevolution.com.auI grew up in a small Russian town, 40km south-east of Moscow. My mom was very sick and so I spent much of my childhood in clinic waiting rooms. By 7 years of age I knew how to spell complex names of medicines, like acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin). Chronic Respiratory Symptoms I started suffering from bronchitis and other respiratory issues at the age of 16. This continued all throughout my 20’s until I had my first son. The birth of my first son is really what motivated me to address my respiratory conditions in a holistic way. Through helping him recover from a serious viral infection with the use of natural medicine (as conventional doctors were inundated at that time), I changed my attitude to healing. Integrating Natural Health Slowly I weaned myself off of mainstream medication and replaced it with herbal and homeopathic remedies. When my son would get sick, I would also treat him naturally and the whole household moved from medication to natural remedies – it was a big shift in lifestyle. I also went through the heartbreaking experience of having 2 miscarriages, one ended up in a funeral. And this made me realise how unreliable our medical system is, I felt like a number, not a person going through my miscarriages. I struggled to be heard by the doctors. The Importance of A Holistic View Emotionally and mentally I was at my low point. But in searching for answers, this also led me to a big “Spiritual awakening”. In all my searching, I realised that we have a mental and emotional body in addition to the physical, and they all intersect and affect each other. We are not just physical beings. We need to look after our emotional existence as it has a direct impact on our physical health. Becoming A Naturopath I decided to enroll in a naturopathic school. A few weeks later I found out I was once again pregnant. This time, I used my newfound knowledge in naturopathy to keep myself healthy on every level. I kept track of my hormones and used herbal medicine to regulate my hormones during this time. I also meditated, and focused on self-care and connecting with myself on a deeper level. I actually made myself a priority. I gave birth to my 2nd son in September 2010. Asthma Strikes All was well, until 2013 when I had to rush him to the emergency room. He had become asthmatic and was struggling to breathe. They monitored him overnight and gave him 2 types of medication, which he didn’t respond well to at all. Regardless, he got discharged anyway and was sent home. This is when I started my search for modalities and natural therapies that would support asthmatics and people with respiratory issues. I knew of a modality called Buteyko Breathing which was very popular in Russia, which I began teaching my son with great results. We used that with homeopathic and herbal remedies with great results. At one point when he had an asthma attack – he did the Buteyko Breathing exercises and within 10 minutes he had colour in his face. He could get up and walk, which previously hadn’t been thought possible. That’s when I knew Buteyko Breathing was a modality I needed to integrate within my naturopathic practices. The Oxygen Revolution Functional Breathing Program In 2018 I became qualified as a Buteyko Breathing Educator and combined it with my existing naturopathic practices to form the Oxygen Revolution Functional Breathing program. Now, my mission is to empower and educate individuals with asthma and other respiratory conditions – with practical tools and proven holistic methods to take charge of their health. I operate from my clinic in the outer Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria, however I also see clients online all around Australia and overseas. For holistic breathing therapy, support, and naturopathic solutions, I invite you to get in touch for an appointment with me to see how I can help you achieve the best of health. Julia Rudakova Naturopath, Buteyko Breathing Educator, Herbalist. Melbourne, Australia.
