Julian McCormack - The Value Investing Contrarian Thing

from Shares for Beginners

Julian McCormack is from Platinum Asset Management. As a young guy on the road he developed what he called "The Value Investing Contrarian Thing". Julian spoke about this and Platinum’s approach to investment management. They identify and invest in companies they believe to be undervalued. His case study is the German car company BMW. I want you to pay attention to some of the concepts he talks about. There’s Price Earnings Ratio which is one of the basic ways of valuing a company and also book value. This is not a recommendation to run out and buy shares in BMW. This is purely an exercise in valuing a company for you to learn from. There's also a great listener question from McKenzie Battye-Smith.Platinum's website is https://www.platinum.com.au/ Julian's video presentation is available at https://youtu.be/4e6dIWl7sEo?t=1934Link to the blog post https://www.sharesforbeginners.com/blog/julian-mccormack-from-platinum-asset-managementPortfolio tracker Sharesight tracks your trades, shows your true performance, and saves you time and money at tax time.
