July 10 — Pride, Prayer, and the Purpose of Trials — Chronological Audio Bible Reading | 2 Kings 18–20; Isaiah 36–39; 2 Chronicles 32 | Resolved to Read

from The Resolved to Read Podcast · host Jennifer Jolene Deal

In today’s reading from 2 Kings 18:13–37; 19:1–36; 20:1–21, Isaiah 36:1–22; 37:1–37; 38:1–22; 39:1–8, and 2 Chronicles 32:1–33, we watch King Hezekiah face two very different tests: the external threat of the Assyrian army and the internal battle with his own pride. When Jerusalem is threatened, Hezekiah humbles himself in prayer, and God miraculously saves the city. Yet later, when messengers arrive and Hezekiah takes credit for God’s blessings, he falls into pride—only to repent when confronted. We also see how God used Hezekiah’s sickness not as an enemy attack, but as a refining trial to test his heart and deepen his dependence. These passages remind us that God sometimes allows difficulties not to destroy us, but to reveal what is in our hearts, refine our faith, and draw us back to humble trust in Him alone.Resolved to Read is a daily chronological Bible podcast guiding you through Scripture in one year—with short readings, quiet moments of reflection, and warm conversations that bring faith to life.Join the journey, stay consistent in God’s Word, and grow spiritually one day at a time.📖 Subscribe on your favorite podcast app or watch on YouTube. 🎧 Listen daily + find the full reading plan by following along in the Daily Bible in Chronological Order edited by F.
