JULY 10 - What's Better Than Gold?3-Year-Bible Reading: Proverbs 19:22–23; Psalm 79; Luke 10________________________________________What is desired in a man is steadfast love, and a poor man is better than a liar. The fear of the Lord leads to life, and whoever has it rests satisfied; he will not be visited by harm — Proverbs 19:22–23Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of your name; deliver us, and atone for our sins, for your name's sake! — Psalm 79:9But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was, and when he saw him, he had compassion — Luke 10:33________________________________________We live in a world that often values popularity over kindness, image over integrity, and comfort over compassion. But in Proverbs 19, we’re reminded that what really matters is steadfast love—being someone who loves deeply, honestly, and consistently. Even being poor with integrity is better than living a lie. That’s big. Psalm 79 shows us what it’s like to be in deep trouble and still turn to God, trusting His mercy and asking Him to save not just for our sake—but because His name is worth it. Then in Luke 10, Jesus flips the script with a story that challenges everything we think we know about love: the Good Samaritan. The hero wasn’t the religious guy or the rule-follower—it was the one who stopped, saw the hurting, and did something about it. That kind of love is rare. And it’s what God wants from us.________________________________________THINK ABOUT IT1. Love That Costs Something: The Samaritan didn’t just feel bad for the hurt man—he acted. Real love looks like getting involved, even when it’s messy or inconvenient. Who might need your help or kindness today?2. Integrity Over Image: Proverbs says being honest is better than having money but living a lie. How are you choosing integrity in your daily life—online, in friendships, or at school?3. God’s Mercy is Personal: Psalm 79 shows us it’s okay to cry out to God when things are hard. Are you turning to Him when you’re overwhelmed, or trying to handle it all on your own?________________________________________BOTTOM LINEGod values love that is real, bold, and compassionate. It's not about how perfect you look on the outside—it's about living with integrity, choosing kindness, and trusting God to be your strength and help, even when life is hard.________________________________________PRAYERHeavenly Father, Thank You for showing us what real love looks like through Jesus. Help us be people who don’t just talk about love but actually live it out—especially when it’s uncomfortable or hard. Teach us to choose honesty over appearances and to trust You when things feel overwhelming. Give us eyes to see others the way You do. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
