But in Proverbs 19, we’re reminded that what really matters is steadfast love—being someone who loves deeply, honestly, and consistently. Even being poor with integrity is better than living a lie. That’s big. Psalm 79 shows us what it’s like to be in deep trouble and still turn to God, trusting His mercy and asking Him to save not just for our sake—but because His name is worth it. Then in Luke 10, Jesus flips the script with a story that challenges everything we think we know about love: the Good Samaritan. The hero wasn’t the religious guy or the rule-follower—it was the one who stopped, saw the hurting, and did something about it. That kind of love is rare.
