July 11 – Let It Go
from The Daily Word · host LakeshoreCF
In today’s episode, Pastor Cory Barnes shares a devotion from Hebrews 8, where the author explains that Jesus is the mediator of a better covenant, established on better promises. Unlike the old covenant, where sacrifices had to be offered continually, the new covenant is founded on Christ’s once-for-all sacrifice and God's promise to forgive our sins and remember them no more. Pastor Cory reminds listeners that while we often rejoice in God's forgiveness, many of us continue carrying guilt and shame that God has already removed. If the One we have sinned against has chosen to forgive and no longer hold our sins against us, why do we continue condemning ourselves? While genuine repentance may require making things right with those we have hurt, believers are not called to live under the weight of past failures. As we receive God's forgiveness by faith, we are also invited to release the shame that He has already taken away. When we see ourselves through the finished work of Christ rather than through the lens of our past mistakes, we are able to walk in the freedom and confidence of the new covenant He has secured for us.Today's Reading:July 11 – Isaiah 23; Micah 1–3; Hebrews 8
