July 12, 2026 - 15th Sunday in Ordinary Time
from Blessed Sacrament Parish Community Homilies · host Fr. Rob Howe
In this week's homily, Fr. Rob examines a familiar pattern: when one thing goes wrong, our anger builds and spirals, eventually poisoning our relationships and our spiritual receptivity. A small frustration turns into yelling at the dog, then snapping at loved ones—all rooted in an anger that hardens our hearts. And here's the spiritual problem: when our hearts are hardened by anger, stubbornness, or selfishness, God's grace—which is constantly reaching toward us—cannot penetrate. We become like the rocky ground Jesus describes in the parable of the sower. Fr. Rob reminds us that God's grace is a constant presence in our lives, but it requires fertile soil to take root. By cultivating quiet and prayer, we can soften our stony hearts and become open to God's transformative love. When we do, the small frustrations become nearly irrelevant, and even our larger struggles become bearable. This homily is an invitation to tend the garden of our hearts through prayer and openness, allowing God's grace to produce fruit thirty, sixty, or even a hundredfold.
