July 2019 Canceled Appointments

How often does your office cancel patient appointments?  More often than you would like?  Listen to today’s BIG Ideas from the Business Intelligence Guy podcast for a way to quantify the cost of canceling patient appointments.  I am not talking about the dollar cost of paying staff to move appointments.  I am more concerned about how many patients the practice might lose if we cancel their appointment.  If you cancel 10 patients, whether to accommodate a surgery or a vacation, how many of those 10 patients will return to the practice, and how many will be lost?  Does that percentage of lost patients from a canceled appointment vary by provider type or appointment type?  If you could tell your providers that when you cancel you lose a third of the patients, will that information reduce the number of canceled appointments?  Listen to today’s podcast to discover how to do a similar calculation in your practice.
