July 24 – Honoring God Through Submission

In today’s episode, Pastor Jenny Dirmann shares a devotion from 1 Peter 3, where Peter continues his teaching on authority by addressing the relationship between husbands and wives. Rather than presenting submission as a matter of personal worth or superiority, Peter points believers back to the broader principle established in the previous chapter: we submit to authority for the Lord’s sake. Pastor Jenny explains that Christian submission is ultimately an act of trust in God, not merely compliance with another person. Using Sarah as an example, she reminds listeners that God is able to protect, guide, and honor those who faithfully entrust themselves to Him, even when those in authority are imperfect. Peter also places a clear responsibility on husbands, calling them to honor their wives, live with understanding, and treat them with dignity as equal heirs of God's grace. Healthy, Christ-centered relationships are built on mutual obedience to God, where both husbands and wives lay down their own preferences in order to honor Him.
