JULY 25 - Respect, Roots, and Real Growth3-Year-Bible Reading: Proverbs 20:20–21; Philippians 1________________________________________“If one curses his father or his mother, his lamp will be put out in utter darkness. An inheritance gained hastily in the beginning will not be blessed in the end.” — Proverbs 20:20–21“And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” — Philippians 1:6________________________________________Have you ever wanted to grow up fast? Maybe you’ve thought, “I just want to be done with school,” or “I wish I had all the freedom and money right now.” It’s tempting to want the rewards without the journey. But Proverbs 20:20–21 warns against rushing ahead without respect or wisdom, especially when it comes to relationships with parents and chasing blessings too quickly. In Philippians 1, Paul reminds us that God is working in us slowly, surely, and on purpose. The process matters—and so does our attitude during it.________________________________________THINK ABOUT IT1. Respect Is the Root: Proverbs warns about dishonoring parents—not just because it's wrong, but because it leads to darkness. Why do you think respect for authority is so connected to spiritual growth?2. Quick Gains Can Miss the Point: What are some things you’ve wanted right now that might be better with time? How can waiting and learning prepare you for those blessings?3. God Is Still Working: According to Philippians 1:6, God has already started something amazing in you. Are you trusting His timing, or trying to rush ahead? How can you lean into the process today?________________________________________BOTTOM LINEReal growth takes time, respect, and trust in God’s process. Don’t trade long-term blessing for a shortcut that leaves you empty. Let God do His work—He’s not done with you yet.________________________________________PRAYERHeavenly Father, thank You for starting a good work in me and for promising to finish it. Help me to honor the people You’ve placed in my life, even when it's tough. Give me patience to trust Your timing and to grow the right way. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
