July 27, 2026: The mental toll on wildland firefighters; Denver Art Museum reimagines its Indigenous galleries

from Colorado Matters · host Colorado Public Radio

The deadly fire on the Colorado/Utah border has claimed the life of a fourth firefighter. 43-year-old Nathan Matthews, of Lincoln, Nebraska, had been hospitalized since the Snyder fire burnover June 27. Also this season, a helicopter pilot died fighting the Gold Mountain fire. How does this affect the mental health of their fellow firefighters? Then, a new exhibit featuring works by the Denver Art Museum's Indigenous artists-in-residence opens Saturday. We speak with two artists whose intricate beadwork reimagines traditional designs.
