July 31 – Deep Roots of Faith

In today’s episode, Pastor Cory Barnes shares a devotion from John 2:23–25, where many people believed in Jesus after witnessing His miracles, yet Jesus did not entrust Himself to them because He knew what was in their hearts. Pastor Cory explains that while these people were impressed by Jesus, their faith had not yet taken deep root. Their belief was driven more by emotion and excitement than by genuine, lasting commitment. This passage challenges us to examine the depth of our own faith. Are we following Jesus only when He meets our expectations, or have we rooted our lives in who He is regardless of our circumstances? Pastor Cory also highlights Jesus' wisdom in His relationships. Although He loved people completely and would ultimately lay down His life for them, He exercised discernment in whom He entrusted with deeper levels of responsibility and relationship.
