Daniel chapter 6 invites us to reconsider what it means to stand for God when we cannot see the outcome. Through Daniel's famous encounter in the lion's den, we discover that authentic faithfulness isn't about changing our behavior when trials come, but about allowing God to transform what's already inside us. The sermon uses a compelling illustration: when someone bumps into us holding a cup, what spills out reveals what was already there. Similarly, when life jostles us, what overflows is whatever we've been filling ourselves with. Daniel didn't suddenly become faithful when facing the lion's den at 82 years old. He had cultivated a lifetime of prayer, confession, and obedience that naturally expressed itself in crisis. The message challenges us with a profound truth: standing for God doesn't guarantee we'll see the end of the story, as illustrated by George Mueller's 52-year prayer journey for his friends' salvation. Yet this is precisely where faith becomes real. We're called to pause, find a different place, change our posture, and pray with thanksgiving, allowing God to reshape us from glory to glory. The most beautiful revelation comes in recognizing that just as King Darius issued a new decree that superseded the old law, Jesus has given us a new and better covenant that rewrites the law of sin and death with the perfect law of liberty.
