JULY 9 - God’s Plan > My Plan3-Year-Bible Reading: Proverbs 19:20–21; Luke 9________________________________________“Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future. Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.” — Proverbs 19:20–21“And he said to all, ‘If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.’” — Luke 9:23________________________________________You probably have some plans for your future—college, sports, a dream career, or maybe even what you’re doing this weekend. It’s great to have goals and ambition, but Proverbs 19:21 reminds us that no matter how many plans we make, it’s God’s purpose that will ultimately stand. That doesn’t mean your dreams don’t matter—it means they’re safest and strongest when they align with God’s plan. In Luke 9:23, Jesus invites us to follow Him, which means sometimes letting go of our own way and trusting His. That’s hard, especially when our plans feel exciting or important. But following Jesus means trusting that His way is always better—even when it requires sacrifice.________________________________________THINK ABOUT IT1. Whose voice are you listening to? Are you seeking advice and wisdom from godly people in your life—parents, leaders, friends who follow Jesus? Or are you only listening to your own plans and feelings?2. Purpose > Plans: God’s purpose is bigger than our plans. That can feel scary when we’re not sure what His purpose is. But it’s also comforting, because it means we don’t have to have it all figured out.3. Following Jesus daily: Taking up your cross daily means following Jesus isn't a one-time decision—it’s an everyday choice. What’s one way you can put His plan before your own today?________________________________________BOTTOM LINEGod’s plan is better and lasting. Trusting Him means letting go of control, listening to wise advice, and choosing to follow Jesus every day.________________________________________PRAYERHeavenly Father, thank You that Your purpose for my life is greater than anything I could plan. Help me to listen to wise advice and to trust You when things don’t go the way I imagined. Give me courage to follow Jesus daily, even when it’s hard. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
