(00:00-09:21): JD Greear expresses his stance with racism and says that “it shows a disregard for the gospel”. Brian and Ian touch on the Southern Baptist President’s statements at a black church this past Sunday. (09:21-19:00): JD Greear continues his slamming of the Church climate today. He says that political affiliation does not matter before faith. We must show restraint to politics and that the Gospel is of first importance. Brian and Ian express their agreement to Greear’s statements and express accolades for him standing up to the Baptist Church. (19:00-28:15): Millennial dads have very little DIY skills compared to baby boomers. Brian and Ian reflect and relate to this article. Brian is on the cusp of Generation-X and Ian is at the edge of being a Millennial. They both still say they struggle with certain things around the house. (28:15-37:24): Pastors should use more sermon puns and plan more parties! Humor in the church is more than just appropriate, it is essential. Brian and Ian react to this article from Christianity Today, and relate this premise to their own churches and styles of leadership. (37:24-47:55): Former talk show host Jon Stewart appeared before Congress to push for the 9/11 First Responders Fund. Brian and Ian acknowledge Stewart’s passion and consistent support of first responders. The Bill passed unanimously in the House of Representatives. (47:55-58:40): Chinese Christian prisoners memorize the whole bible. You can’t confiscate what “is hidden in your heart”. Brian and Ian are inspired to be zealous for the commission of Christ and to be thankful. It is good to be reminded of the reverence and privilege of worshiping God. (58:40-1:09:04): NBA superstar Stephen Curry is a firm believer of Christ and an outwardly spoken Christian. He has a new Facebook series called ‘Stephen VS. The Game’ about how his Faith is tested on the court. Brian and Ian talk about this and the difficulty of having a strong relationship with Christ in the midst of prominence. (1:09:04-1:15:28): Brian and Ian’s “Weird Stuff We Found on the Internet”: Most kids think it’s weird when their parents show up at school, and evidently alligators eat metal. Children’s toys are for children...and children only, while horses are being beaten in Texas. Meanwhile Kraft makes deserts now...allegedly. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
