JUNE 12 - Joy That Lifts, Wisdom That Lasts3-Year-Bible Reading: Proverbs 17:21–22; Exodus 18//3-Year Bible (Year 1) Devotional Book Available on Amazon//________________________________________“He who sires a fool gets himself sorrow, and the father of a fool has no joy. A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.” — Proverbs 17:21–22“Moses’ father-in-law said to him, ‘What you are doing is not good… You and the people with you will certainly wear yourselves out, for the thing is too heavy for you. You are not able to do it alone.’” — Exodus 18:17–18________________________________________Have you ever tried to do everything yourself—homework, chores, even helping friends—until you totally burned out? In Exodus 18, Moses was in that exact spot. He was working nonstop, trying to lead the entire nation of Israel by himself, until his father-in-law Jethro stepped in and basically said, “This is not working—you can’t do it all.” Jethro’s wisdom helped Moses make changes that brought life and peace not just for himself but for everyone around him.Proverbs 17 reminds us that joy is powerful—like medicine for your heart. But trying to carry the world on your shoulders, or ignoring good advice, can dry out your spirit fast. Sometimes we think being strong means doing it all, but real strength comes from knowing when to ask for help and how to guard your heart with joy.God never meant for you to walk through life alone or overloaded. He places people in your life—friends, family, leaders—to speak truth, offer support, and share the load. Whether you’re stressed, sad, or just trying to figure life out, God’s wisdom offers a way forward. And it often starts with listening, letting go of pride, and choosing joy even in the middle of chaos.________________________________________THINK ABOUT IT1. Joy Check: Are you letting God fill your heart with joy, or are you holding on to stress and pressure?2. Don’t Go Alone: Who in your life gives wise advice like Jethro? Are you listening to them—or trying to do everything on your own?3. Lighten the Load: Is there something you need to let go of, share, or ask for help with this week?________________________________________BOTTOM LINEA joyful heart refreshes your soul, and wise choices—especially ones that involve letting others help—lead to strength that lasts.________________________________________PRAYERHeavenly Father, thank You for reminding me that I don’t have to do life alone. Help me to recognize the people You’ve placed in my life to encourage and guide me. Give me wisdom to listen, courage to ask for help, and joy that fills my heart even on hard days. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
