June 2022: A Hairdesser's Cousin and the Photo in Paris

In this episode of URSA we hear about a class action lawsuit seeking compensation for victims of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, as well as The Scorpions’ decision to change the lyrics of their iconic song, Wind of Change. We also learn about the EU Commission’s LIFE Awards for climate projects, and Arrels Marines, a group working to preserve the underwater Posidonia meadows of Mallorca. Our first featured piece comes from Liam Geraghty of Ireland’s The Warren, in which we hear the sweet tale of a photograph taken in the Abbey Theatre in Dublin in 1975, and how it was spotted in Paris thirty-six years later…Next we hear an excerpt from ‘Denisa,’ the second episode in the series “This is what a generation sounds like” from The Europeans podcast. Denisa is the autobiographical story of a Romanian teenager who moves to Germany and has to navigate a new city, new friends, and a new life. Then, we have Jane Silver of Exberliner, our food correspondent, this time updating us about her Fishklub experience, an unexpected place to get great kofte, and the ‘Bunker Food Truck’ on top of Hitler’s bunker… it’s real.Jonny Tiernan, our culture correspondent, from Lola Magazine joins us to chat about upcoming Open Air film screenings, the new Dark Matter art installation (that’s apparently a great place to take a cheeky date!), music gigs and the ADFC Sternfahrt Bicycle Demo that takes cyclists onto the AUTOBAHN.
