You don't have to have it all figured out to begin. You just have to be willing to learn — and to stop pretending you already know. In this episode, Pastor Mike and Jason dig into the humility that recovery and faith both require. Jason reflects on watching guys with 20 and 30 years in the rooms while he's working on his first — and how that gives him hope rather than discouragement. He gets honest about why this attempt has stuck when the first two didn't: this time he got a sponsor, and he's actually working the program instead of just paying it lip service and showing up for meetings. Mike brings the recovery truth that we stop maturing emotionally the moment we start drinking heavily — coming into the program at 36 with an 18-year-old's view of the world, and the lifelong catching-up that follows. But Jesus affirms that posture in Matthew 18: unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Not immaturity — humility. The willingness to be taught.
