Just a little bit longer My baby cried, oh God not again, kept apart and quarantined A lonely tenor performing operatic arias from the Florentine Screaming at no one in particular, an empty room my audience Cursing how we’re doomed, while scheming how to circumvent Through her tears somehow comes a small yet steady voice of reason Even though we hurt, and we’ve been cheated out of every season Honey you’ve been there for me, I just need you to be a bit stronger Everything is going to be like we planned, babe just a little bit longer My dog he looked at me and said Daddy I believe that Mommy’s right Walking down a tunnel is scary but if you look you can see the light The other end is where we can all be together and spend our days The sun shines bright, it’s warm outside and the music always plays Through his snout somehow comes a small yet steady voice of reason Even though you hurt, and you’ve been cheated out of every season Daddy you’ve been there, mommy just needs you to be a bit stronger Everything is going to be like you planned daddy, just a little bit longer What could I say to a Chihuahua in a hoodie, I had to give him his due He was right, it just takes faith, and I’ve got an endless supply in you Connected by something we never could put to words or define From the moment out eyes met I was yours and babe you were mine Through my tears somehow comes a small yet steady voice of reason Even though we hurt, and we’ve been cheated out of every season Honey you’ve been there for me too, I just need to be a bit stronger Everything is going to be like we planned, babe just a little bit longer I know it’s hard, but honey I know I can be stronger Anything babe, even if it takes just a little bit longer Tim Windisch 01/03/2023
