Welcome to the Tweep Trends Podcast. Hey, Evette, what's trending today? Hey, I'm Evette, hey girl! And you are tuned in to Tweep Trends.
It's the quickest way to find out what's trending today. Today is National Just Because Day, and just because I'm doing this episode from the beach. Sure. The premise behind National Just Because Day is just that.
Just do something just because you don't have to have a reason to celebrate. You don't have to have a purpose behind why you do anything. Any random act of kindness is random. You don't need a reason.
Do it just because because it makes you feel good. Because you just want to, because it's your business. Just do whatever because. So my love for Just Because Day, especially that's falling on this day, August 27th this year, is that this is the day that my husband and I gave birth to our first child.
Our son, his name is Evanston, and he would have turned 11 years old today. And he was born with a birth defect, and he passed away at four months of age. And it's because of him that I do things just because tomorrow is not promised to any of us. That should be enough reason if you have to have one to do stuff.
Live life. You only get one of them. So why not go ahead and do those things that you want to do? Who cares if people are looking at you?
Dance like nobody's watching. Do the fun things. Go places. Do things.
See people. Enjoy experiences. Don't just sit there and say, oh gosh, it would be so nice too. But what's holding you back?
Seriously, the money that you have here on this earth, you can't take it with you. So why not say, okay, make a date, plan it. I'm going to do this. And somebody asks you, oh, well, why are you going to do that?
Just because. Or you can tell him, it's none of your business. Anything. But don't let other people step in the way of you and your shine.
Do it because that's what you want to do and it doesn't matter what anybody else thinks. So that's what we're going to talk about today, doing things just because. So I was at the beach just because it was a pretty day. I didn't need an excuse to do it.
It could have been raining. I was going to go into the beach just because I wanted to. I hadn't been to the beach in a while. You know, we got food from a restaurant just because I remember when we lived in Jacksonville.
I lived in Jacksonville, Florida. And there was this restaurant called One Ocean, very fancy, fancy restaurant. And we would go to eat there just because it didn't have to be an anniversary. It didn't have to be somebody's birthday.
We would do it just because. Well, you want to know that because just because there was a time in history where people that looked like us would not be welcome in a restaurant like that. And now that we can, we're going to do it just because, you know, the waiter will come and be like, oh, somebody's celebrating tonight. We're celebrating life.
That's what we're celebrating. There's no reason. We're just doing this because we can. And that's the same type of attitude that I really hope that you have.
If you don't have it yet, come on, let's work out. We can do this together. Okay, so another thing just because I want to give a praise report. So of course you don't know this because I haven't disclosed it, but I had a situation just recently where the doctor said I had assist on one of my ovaries and that they wanted to do this procedure where they would not only take the cyst, but take the entire ovary as well.
And they did give me the option of having an MRI done first just to, and I was like, yeah, I'd like to do that. Let's verify where it is the size it is, all of that good stuff. And literally minutes ago, I received the results from the doctor. And first off, let me give props to this particular doctor because she is a the bomb.
I have never felt so empowered by a doctor. And in talking to her and I'm pouring all of this praise onto her like, oh my gosh, you are so awesome if no one's ever told you. And she's like, you know, I'm the way that I am just because I believe that it's every woman's right to be able to make the decisions about her body that she wants to. So if you wanted to do 20 different tests before we actually did the surgery to remove the cyst, then you know what, that's full within your rights.
And I would want that for you. And I'm just like, man, I wish that I would have had this particular doctor way, way back when, you know, because I've never felt so liberated in a hospital before. But anyway, that's another story. So she calls me, verifies who I am, and let me tell you what she told me.
We did the MRI, the MRI was done on Tuesday, and they couldn't find any of any of the stuff that they found before. It's gone. The cyst is gone. And I opted to have that test just because there was nothing about anything that said that, oh, well, you know, if you get this done, then this, that, and a third, whatever, whatever, they said it was an option.
Okay, then let's do that. Well, why do you want to do that? Because I can, just because there's no real reason. And so this is another thing that hopefully you ladies out there, you know, be an advocate for your health just because, you know, doctors will try to persuade you, especially if you have maybe health care that is not necessarily the greatest, they're going to try to get you to do things so that further down the line, you know, like it'll be, well, just get a hysterectomy, you know, and then it'll be like, excuse me, why?
You know, and for the doctors, it'll be like, oh, well, because it'll be better in the long run. If you don't have that darn uterus, then you know, you won't have to worry about uterine cancer, you know, just weird stuff. And you're like, no, but some people will go along with whatever the doctor says. And ladies, I want you to be out there as a strong advocate for your health just because if there is an option for you to have an extra test done, some other type of second opinion or whatever, you do it just because, because they're not always right, because sometimes what they saw is no longer there anymore, you know?
Yeah, do it just because. So still talking about causes, I want to highlight a business and it's called because charms, B-E-E-C-A-U-S-E because. And you can find them on Twitter at B-E-E-C-A-U-S-E-C-H-A-R-M-S, that's at because charms. And I want to highlight them for a number of reasons.
The one being that this particular business, they have these sneaker charms that you can get. And so you can get them to represent the different organizations that you champion, you know, whatever your cause is, whether it's pancreatic cancer, breast cancer, child loss, dementia, Alzheimer's, whatever your cause is, you can get a sneaker charm to commemorate that. You can also get them to commemorate races that you've won because as a matter of fact, back in 2012 was when I was running things. And when I say running things, I mean literally, I had an issue with my thyroid and I had to then start going to see a cardiologist.
And right before, I guess that was December, November, December of 2011, my cardiologist released me and said, you know what, the issues that we saw with your heart, we believe it's all stems from your thyroid, you're free to go live long and prosper, basically. And getting that green light from the cardiologist made me want to run. I never wanted to run in my entire life, but it was like, you know what, I'm going to go run. And I ran 2012 like I was running for my life.
I did my, I trained up my very first run was a half marathon. It was the Disney Princess half as a matter of fact. And then I did five Ks, 10 Ks, 15 Ks. I did mud runs.
I did it all. I did a half marathon and a full marathon went to do the Nike women's out in California. That was my very last run because at that point was when I found out I was pregnant with my daughter, but I ran because I could just because because it was a day that the Lord gave me. So I was going to run and man.
And so through this running, I met Suzanne. Suzanne is the owner of because charms and I wanted to get a couple of charms, you know, one for my very first half marathon. And I also wanted to get one for my son. And I've kept up with this lady.
She has done yet another. Now I have a charm for my daughter as well. And Suzanne is one of the sweetest people in the world. Like I felt like we knew each other from way back when I met her and talked to her and told her what it was that I wanted.
And she was like, you know what, just send me the picture that you want and I'm going to make it work. And I tell you when I look at my sneakers and I see my babies on there and I see the different little charms from the races that I've done because you can't wear those metals that they give you everywhere. You'd be sounding like clear the cow coming home. But on my shoes, it's like I look down, you know, you're like doubled over and you're catching your breath and you've got your eyes closed and then you open them and you see those charms there on your feet.
And it's like it reminds you why you're doing it, what that cause is. And it gives you that extra little spark and it's like, yeah, I did that or come on, I can do it. I'm almost there. And so I want to give a shout out to Suzanne at because charms and I want you guys to go check them out and maybe get a charm or two.
You can even do them as fundraisers. So if you have a fundraiser for an organization, make it some shoe charms. Like everybody wears shoes, right? Okay, that was today's episode of tweet trends.
And before you go and share this episode with somebody, I want you to go out and do something just because. And if you have to have a reason, do it because you've got to do it because you love listening to the tweet trends podcast. Just if you have to have a reason, do it because of that. Or the fact that today is just because day.
I mean, as a matter of fact, today is national lottery day. Go buy a lottery ticket just because who cares if they say that the odds are against you. It's your money and it's your, it's your opportunity because you got to be in it to win it. So it can't be that bad.
Your odds of winning, if you don't even buy a ticket are way worse. So get out there, enjoy the day, have a great weekend and start doing things just because. Because we're not promised tomorrow because why wait? Because you're a really cool person because you like to have fun because that's your business.
And that's what you want to do. Just get out there. Have a great time and come back and see me again on Tuesday just because.
