Just How Do Composers Compose - on Staccato

There’s more new music coming borne of the pandemic. This time it’s in the form of a podcast from the Miller Theatre at Columbia University’s School of the Arts. Mission: Commission paired a composer with a musician to write a new piece but they had to talk about their progress every week. Melissa Smey, Associate Dean of Columbia University’s School Of the Arts and the Executive Director of Miller Theatre says they wanted to demystify the process of composing classical music.
