Just One in Authority

from His People Gabs East · host His People Gabs-East

Part 3 of the Just One Series discusses the concept of being a disciple and spreading the gospel to people in authority in our lives, focusing on the idea that each person can make a difference by reaching "just one" individual, rather than addressing large groups.  This week’s focus is on those in authority.  It is sometimes challenging to disciple individuals in leadership positions, such as parents or bosses, due to cultural norms that emphasize respect for authority. However, God still calls believers to reach out to leaders and people in positions of authority with wisdom and grace. Vivian reflects on how individuals often come to faith because of one-on-one interactions, where one person in their life led them toward God. They emphasize that every believer is called to reach at least one person in their sphere of influence and that even small actions can have a transformative impact. Vivian reviews previous sermons in the series, particularly highlighting the Great Commission in Matthew 28:18-19, where Jesus instructs his disciples to "go and make disciples of all nations." This command doesn't necessarily require grand gestures or missionary trips but can be fulfilled in daily life by impacting one person at a time. An example is drawn from Isaiah 28, where different seeds are planted and harvested in specific ways, illustrating that each person requires a unique approach. Just as the methods for planting and harvesting vary, so does the way we reach people for God. We are encouraged to be attentive to how God places us next to people whose lives need their specific gifts or influence. The message ends by encouraging us to be mindful of the ways we can impact others, especially those in positions of power, while remembering that as we disciple others, we too are being transformed in the process.
