Justice Minister asked to establish why pistol holster worn by the Detective Garda Colm Horkan was not examined during inquest

Questions have been raised in the Dáil why a leather pistol holster worn by the Detective Garda, Colm Horkan on the night he was murdered was never examined as part of the inquest into his death.   On the 17 June 2020, Detective Horkan was murdered with his own official Garda firearm following an engagement with Stephen Silver who has since been convicted of his murder.The matter was recently raised in the Dáil with the Minster for Justice, Jim O’Callaghan by the Labour TD Alan Kelly. Deputy Kelly also raised serious questions of the suitability of the holsters following another incident involving a member of the force. The former Labour party leader says it needs to be established whey Detective Garda Horkan's holster was never presented to the Garda National Technical Bureau for ballistic examination.
