Justice Minister will look at the possibility of fast tracking a new Garda Station for Sligo

The Justice Minister has committed to looking at the possibility of fast tracking a new Garda station for Sligo. Despite a suitable site purchased by the OPW some years ago, the plans have faced several delays. A new Divisional Headquarters for Sligo has been agreed in principle by An Garda Siochana and the Department of Justice with a business case being considered. The current Garda Station on Pearse Road has been deemed no longer suitable to meet the future needs of Gardai working there. Minister Jim O'Callaghan says while budgets will have to be discussed, he is hopeful that a new Garda Station for Sligo will be over the line in the years to come:
