Twenty years of accepting lavish gifts, and Justice Thomas didn't think to offer any disclosure. Judges know rules, that's how they become a judge. Rather than look up specific requirements (rules) of gift disclosure, Clarence Thomas said he asked around if accepting gifts for travel and hotels valued in the thousands of dollars was permitted. All areas of government have strict rules prohibiting the acceptance of gifts, except, it seems, SCOTUS. Calls by the Senate Judicial Committee is requesting Chief Justice Roberts to initiate an investigation.
