Justice When You are Outnumbered (Psalm 83)

In this message from Psalm 83, we are reminded that even when God’s people feel surrounded and outnumbered, the battle has always belonged to the Lord. Drawing connections to the stories of Gideon, Deborah, and Barak in Judges, we see that God often allows His people to face overwhelming odds so that His victory is unmistakably His.The psalmist cries out for God’s justice, recognizing that the enemies of God are also the enemies of His people. Yet in the midst of hostility, we are called to remember God’s past faithfulness, to trust His present power, and to look forward with hope. This psalm also points us to a deeper truth: God’s judgment not only brings justice but can awaken hearts to repentance. One day every knee will bow—will it be in judgment, or in worship?Be encouraged: our God defends His people, yesterday, today, and forever.
