JUSTIN EDWARDS' HUGE NIGHT steers Sixers' comeback win over Celtics

from PHLY Philadelphia Sixers Podcast · host ALLCITY Network

Justin Edwards stayed ready when his number was called and he DELIVERED a near-perfect night for the Sixers with a team-high 22-point outburst off the bench, including five made 3s in the team's 102-100 thriller over the visiting Boston Celtics. Edwards (8-9 FG, 5-6 3FG) scored nine points in the second quarter to help the 76ers to a 51-41 halftime lead. But as has been the case for Philadelphia, the third quarter has been their trouble spot, allowing the opponent to come back all season, and tonight it was the Celtics. Edwards, a Philadelphia native, saved his best for last with a personal 9-0 run to put his team back in the lead 93-92 with 4:42 to play in regulation. The second-year man also played really good defense, which allowed the Sixers to chip away at Boston's lead and gave them a chance at the end. On his only miss of the night to give the 76ers the lead, Kelly Oubre crashed the glass for the game-winning put back. Celtics guard Derrick White missed a three-point heave with 1.4 seconds left, giving Philadelphia the huge win. Tyrese Maxey added 21 for the Sixers, Jaylen Brown scored a game-high 24 for Boston.
