Justin Hays - Unique Ability to Collaborate

In this episode I sit down with Justin Hays.  Justin grew up in Minneapolis, MN and moved to Jackson, WY in 1987.  He then went on to attend the University of Wisconsin and moved back to the area and has been here ever since.  Justin is currently the GM at the Lodge at Palisades Creek, an Orvis endorsed lodge located on the banks of the South Fork of the Snake River that opened in 1990.  Justin started guiding for the TLAPC shortly thereafter in 98 and eventually took over as the GM in 2010.  Justin has worked in the hospitality business his entire life, that experience combined with his guiding was the perfect cocktail for Justin to take the reins at the lodge, shortly thereafter he and the staff brought another award to the TLAPC, the Orvis endorsed Lodge of the year for the second time as well as two other nominations.  Justin and I currently sit on the board of the South Fork Initiative together.  An Initiative of the Henry’s Fork Foundation that brings their science-based collaboration for healthy fisheries to the South Fork of the Snake.  We both had a hand in bringing the initiative to fruition, which is cool to look back on now.  Justin radiates positivity and has a unique ability to collaborate with all who come across his path, maybe a trait from many years in the hospitality business, I am not sure but will try and find out.  For over a decade Justin and I were essentially competitors in the fishing industry, but the funny thing is I never looked at it that way, it always felt like more of a collaboration.
