Kail and Rebecca Katzenmeier from the Prairiewood Connect Foundation

On Today's episode of Within Reason with Mike Matson, he interviews Rebecca and Kale Katzenmeier, proprietors of Prairie Wood Connect Foundation. They discuss their efforts to preserve and protect the tall grass prairie in Manhattan. They also emphasize the importance of public access and education to foster a love for the prairie.  Over 25 years, they've acquired 600 acres through 16 transactions, aiming to provide critical connections through education and recreation. Their foundation, now an independent 501(c)(3), focuses on ecological preservation and community engagement.  They also own event spaces, including Union Hall, which serves as a community gathering place.  Their mission is to create spaces that foster connection and wonder, encouraging people to experience the natural world and develop a deeper appreciation for it.
