Happy 74th Independance day to all our listeners!      Kalangarai Vilakkam (trans. Light house) is a special initiative by Nesakkarangal Charitable Trust's Kadal Osai FM 90.4. It has been started to commemorate the radio station's succesful entry into its fifth year on August 15, 2020. With this program, Kadal Osai hopes to provide a proper career guidance to enthusiastic youngsters from the fishing community.      Sahitya Akademi award winning writer and novelist Mr. Joe D'Cruz talks about the need for education for students. He suggests that youngsters should pursue their studies and then can return to fishing if they wish to once they have experienced proper education. He then talks about the accidents faced by fishermen at sea. He claims that the current generation of fishermen are comparatively physically weaker to the previous generations and that the fishermen should make use of available technology and safety measures to avoid such accidents and their consequences. He then appreciates Kadal Osai FM and requests the listeners to pay attention to the messages and information provided by the radio and not just listen to the entertainment portion of it.
