Kami Banks: Nutrition and triathlon coach on grief, healing and carrying on a legacy - How the bittersweet passing of her mom led to helping others reach beyond their comfort zone

from Beautiful Shifts · host Lindsay & Shantil

Kami shares the experience of learning her mom, the healthiest person she knew, was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). Loosing her mom was bittersweet as it led Kami to focus on carrying on her memory and the things she had taught her. Kami began to share her voice with others in a way her mom no longer could.  Kami is a high-level athlete and has competed in the Ironman world championship in Kona, Hawaii. She is a certified triathlon, life and weight coach, and shares how our challenges can help us grow into the people we want to become, and much more. Wherever Life Takes Us whereverlifetakesuss Join three best friend as they explore this beautiful world! Half Ties kwamenabrace Half-ties is a conversation series on the funny, beautiful and sometimes challenging moments that interracial couples experience being with somebody who’s culturally different from them.Hosted by creative couple Olivia & Kwamena, we listen to stories about growing up with racism and prejudice; falling in love and meeting the in-laws; navigating difficult conversations within the family and in society, and how these couples make their relationship work and what they actively choose to pass down to the next generation. C.S. Lewis's The Last Battle St. Philip's Church: Charleston, SC Come join us on Wednesday nights as we explore the riches of C.S. Lewis’s marvelous book The Last Battle, which is the last of The Chronicles of Narnia. It is a remarkable book on multiple levels and was awarded the Carnegie Medal back in the 1950s when it was first published. The Last Battle has some themes in common with The Great Divorce and That Hideous Strength that will make it an excellent follow-up to those two books, and like them, it has some remarkable resonance with things going on in today’s culture. It is a book that is both theologically rich and poignantly beautiful in its writing, and it can help equip us to live boldly for Christ in a culture that has lost its way. (Although this book is the last of The Chronicles of Narnia, it can stand on its own and it is not necessary to have read the other books for this class.)
