Kansas City Landlords & the Fight for Private Property Rights [97]

Today I'm joined with several landlords in Kansas City. We discuss how we think Kansas City could be improved and the new ordinance that has been proposed. This bill would restrict landlords from denying tenants to rent their homes. Tenants who may have a violent criminal history, tenants have not treated the properties they stayed in well, tenants who have not treated their prior landlords well... Under this law, landlords would not be able to deny these people from renting from them, and may face discrimination complaints and fines if landlords deny them. These are OUR properties that we bought - we feel as though we should have a voice and the choice to determine if we want someone living in our property. This bill is presented by KC Tenants - an organization originally based out of Chicago that wants to provide housing for everyone. While we do want people to have housing, we also want fairness and the freedom to determine who can live in our homes.
