Kansas City’s Blueprint: Reconstructing the Chiefs Secondary

The Kansas City Chiefs are facing a significant roster deficit in their secondary following the departure of key veterans and starters. To address these gaps, the front office is expected to rely on their established strategy of prioritizing quantity over high-priced stars at the cornerback position. Defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo will likely be tasked with developing unheralded draft picks and young, reclamation-project veterans rather than using early-round draft capital. While recent signings like Kristian Fulton haven't yet paid off, the team continues to bet on undervalued players who possess physical traits like strong tackling skills. Ultimately, the organization plans to invest its premium resources into the defensive line, trusting their coaching staff to mold a functional backfield from lower-cost options.
