In the latest episode of the Empowerography Podcast, my guest is Kara Kennish. Kara is a third generation Tim Hortons franchisee committed to utilizing her unique platform to make a difference in our communities. Fueled by the desire to be a change-maker in our world she leverages the notable Tim Hortons campaigns such as Smile Cookie, to raise the bar and challenge the status quo. It is her personal goal to inspire other women specifically through leadership and sport and has the hopes that her actions will help influence others to shatter glass ceilings. Knowing that representation matters, Kara was able to share her own hockey story as a part of Barbie’s Dream Gap project which showcases ways to honour women who are breaking boundaries to inspire the next generation of girls. She presented two of Team Canada’s top female hockey players with their own One-Of-A-Kind dolls to introduce girls to women’s stories from all walks of life and show them they can be anything. With a direct correlation between girls in sports and women who become leaders, Kara credits many of her successes through the lessons she learned through her competitive Judo and Hockey careers such as resiliency and learning how to fail while still showing up the next day, ready to try again.
