Speaking of character. Lucky my player of the game 24 points joining the 2700 point club the only women in Saint Xavier history to do so and never mind. I'm not going to be watching that. I care.
She's coming. I do whatever good you do. We're going to be joined by care. I gave you a whole intro.
I care. Lucky finishing with 24 points in this game nine rebounds three blocks two steals. Cara you're also the first ever women to join the 27 100 point club in Saint Xavier history joined Brad car of the men's side. So looking at your whole career all time.
You got the first ever back to back quarter finals appearance. What do you mean? How do you really sum up your state of your career so far? Um, it's not over yet.
I mean, yeah, there's not really words to put in perspective of, you know, what the career has been, you know, it's the great coaches, great teammates that you have around you that make things happen. So I can't take credit for everything that's been done. But like you said, our season isn't over yet. So I don't want to think about that.
But it's been great so far. And I hope that, you know, we can make the run that we want this year. You know, I think for the first time in a while this season, you got into a little bit of foul trouble there whenever you're in a situation like that, what goes through your mind? Do you tend to hold back a little bit more or does that just make you want to work harder?
I mean, it's hard to get in foul trouble. Obviously in a game like this with such a great team that you're playing against. But I know that I have great teammates behind me that will be able to help in situations like that and we do a great job tonight. I think coach said we had 17 blocks.
Yeah. It's a team. So obviously, you know, when someone was getting beat or I was going to beat there were people there to help. So I mean, you try to be smart in that situation.
You can't. I knew that I couldn't take that fifth foul and, you know, come out of the game. But if it would happen, I know that we have people that come up and take my spot. I think I'll be able to get through this tournament through the past three years.
At least I have seen, you know, you take over games, really dominate games. Yesterday was a little bit different, uh, Callen, the manager was even saying that you asked for a gator at halftime. Your mouth started freaking out, seeing ocean over yesterday. The water was just warm.
The other thing I'm going to, I mean, it seemed like it had a little bit of an off-game. It was, you know, it was just a little bit of a, you know, with the, the facilitating, the ball. But, you know, scoring wise, you really started to shine. You had, you know, the point, uh, part right there where you stole the ball, you got the shot made and you stole the ball hit four points in three seconds there.
and he came out at the start of the second half. He hit a two threes. He also hit Chanel for an assist. What was clicking offensively for you tonight?
It just felt good. It was just one of those days where he went into it and playing morning side and they have the home court advantage every year down here in their hometown. So it was important to me to come out as a senior and be able to set that tone for my team with Meg starting as a freshman. The nerves are going for everyone.
So I think to be able to come out and start strong like that, really set it on, not just for me, but for the team as well, which kept us going strong for the rest of the game. Sean already knows my answer for this one. But yesterday you guys kind of had a lackluster second half. And it wasn't your best play of action for the Cougars.
So how do you feel that performance in the second half tonight went for you? I definitely think it was better than yesterday. I think we just got a little comfortable yesterday with what the score was at halftime. I think we overlooked our opponent.
But sometimes that happens, but luckily our offense was strong enough for real to stay on top. We played morning side, beginning of the year. So we knew they were going to be strong offensively. So we just came out the second half and knew that we were acting like it was 0-0.
And the game was just starting. So I think that helped us in, kept us on track for a little run. But we kept going offensively, which helped us a lot. Final question for you, Carrie.
You talked about being a leader. You're the senior leader on this team. But it seems like you've always been the vocal leader on this team or sophomore year now to your senior year. Has this ability to be a leader just come to you naturally?
Or is it something that you've had to develop over your same career? I think I grew up with coaches that were always instilling in need of talking to be the one who keeps your teammates up and stuff like that. So I think I've just focused on trying to stay composed all the time and being able to talk to my team. Because I know even me, sometimes you get frustrated.
My team is talking to me. So I think I just do my best to keep everybody vocalized and in control the game and things like that. So just keep everyone comfortable and keep talking. Karakar, like he finishes with 24 points.
In the win, over and morning side, they advanced to the quarter finals. Cara, you joined the 27-hundred-point club. Grett's on your career. We still got a couple more games with you.
Hopefully you get some rest and you come out big against AC tomorrow. Sounds good, thanks.
