Karel grew up on a small regional farm in the Netherlands producing food for their local community, and in this podcast you will discover some of the facts of the current disfunction of our food systems and the some of the ideas on how Karel would love to see a localised, seasonal approach to our food system…. Similar to the way it was when he was a child. Karel is enthusiastic about developments that will make the world a better place and with his passion for entrepreneurship, Karel believes that the drive of entrepeneurs is needed to have new developments organised in a robust and resiliant way. At Nijsen company they are contributing to creating sustainable solutions for a robust food production system in which animal based products are actually part of preventing nutrients leaking out of this system. They have been finding solutions to use as many bio-based residual streams as possible to close the carbon cycle in an economic and viable way.
