When your son donates $10 million to a children’s hospital, you probably did something right as a parent. However, Karl Subban isn’t your typical Canadian “hockey dad”. Moving from the Caribbean and “barely able to read and write”, he became Principal of a school in one of Canada’s toughest neighbourhoods, and with his wife Maria, raised two teachers and three professional hockey players, including one of the NHL’s brightest young stars.
