BFCU was established in 1947 by a group of Boston Firefighters who saw a need to help each other with safe and affordable financial services. Today the credit union serves all first responders in Massachusetts and that small group has grown to now almost 12,000 members strong. BFCU is proud to be the only credit union in Massachusetts that is exclusively dedicated to serving first responders and their families. Karla McCarron has been the Director of Marketing for Boston Firefighters Credit Union since April 2024. She has spent over 3 decades in credit union marketing in the Boston area. Karla is also a breast Cancer survivor and current patient at Dana Farber Cancer Institute. She was diagnosed April 1, 2021 with ER positive and Triple Negative Overlapping site.
