Kat Downey Shares Funeral Preplanning Strategies

Brenda Pearce, The Empowered Nurse, interviews Kat Downey, a Preplanning Strategist and Funeral Director.  This interview delves into the deep and often difficult topic of death.  Everybody does this, but nobody wants to talk about it.  eFactor Radio wishes to dispel myths, and help our audience to understand that there is a proper time to plan and pre-planning is the way to go.  We are offering an open forum where you can ask questions, get answers, and tap into resources intended to lessen the burden, and not leave it until a time of crisis to be dealt with by family at the time of loss.Kat Downey has made a commitment to serving humanity combining her roles as a funeral director and insurance advisor.Having earned a BA in Biology and a Masters in Education from two prestigious Universities, she taught school in both the Secondary and College levels in Toronto.  Realizing her true calling was in assisting people in dealing with difficult decision planning such as funeral planning and estate preservation Kat left the educational system behind for her true calling.Obtaining her license as a Funeral Director in 1998, Kat embarked into a new career path.  Though death is an essential component of the human experience, she provides a unique perspective  and service to provide peace of mind to her clients.  Kat has a strong knowledge base which includes insurance and benefit products as well as she is a licenced Insurance broker.  She has taken courses in Palliative Care and Bereavement Facilitator’s programs as well.  She has also published the Executor's Companion Workbook in 2010 and is a Certified Executor Advisor, obtaining that designation in 2014.She is an active volunteer and networking and is recognized as an upbeat, honest and capable professional whose main goal is to leave her clients feeling cared for, validated and secure.
