"Kata Conflab" Ulf Karlsson Sensei -part 1 of 2

Ulf Karlson Sensei of Kishiomoto Di, a pragmatic proponent of Bunkai and the merits of diving deep into your chosen art. He travels to Okinawa regularly, speaks Japanese and teaches and trains whilst on Island. He hesitates to describe himself as a researcher but he has a deep hard won knowledge of the arts and an appreciation for the history and culture of the art. In this discussion the Kata Naihanchi is a springboard into a deeper discussion on the arts. We are joined by Josh Simmers Sensei of the Okinawa Karate Podcast who very kindly agreed to co-host this discussion and he also organised the venue and times. Big thanks to James Pankiewicz Sensei for allowing the recording to be done at the world famous Asato Dojo! I have included some clips of Ulf Sensei doing a history tour on Okinawa: https://youtu.be/qLbHbGGKeBA?si=aqX48L4HazEVB_-b And of him in action: https://youtu.be/NaHWA55E0uQ?si=db8qh92vP2JP8_Pd Thanks for checking out this new episode, we hope you will take time to checkout our over 300 other podcast episodes, which include interviews with some amazing practitioners of the arts!
