Saldo dana haji per Juni 2021 mencapai 150 Trilliun Rupiah. Setiap tahun angkanya selalu bertambah 11 hingga 16 persen. Keputusan pemerintah Indonesia untuk tidak memberangkatkan jamaah haji tahun ini membuat banyak pihak bertanya soal penggunaan dan keamanan dana haji. Tudingan muncul bahwa dana haji digunakan untuk membiayai proyek pemerintah di tengah ambisi Presiden Jokowi membangun berbagai Infrastruktur. Tudingan ini bukan tanpa alasan, pasalnya APBN saat ini banyak direalokasi untuk penanganan COVID-19, sehingga dana proyek infrastruktur semakin menipis.    Melalui AFU Pimpinan Komisi VIII DPR RI Ace Hasan Syadzily mencoba meyakinkan masyarakat bahwa dana haji selalu dikelola secara aman.
