Keep Healthcare Salty
from A Functional Approach with Dr. Jim Chialtas · host Jim Chialtas, DACM, L.Ac.
In this 107th episode I discuss the highly contentious topic of salt. Yep... This podcast will likely contain some fightin' words! But now isn't that just what scientific debate is all about? :-)In this episode I will talk about the reasons why salt has been so vilified, and how the war on salt began. But I will contrast that with some very good published research that speaks to the contrary (with citations below). I will also discuss some problems with a low salt diet and compare how the US stands as compared to Japan, who's people consume very high salt intakes. And Lastly, I will discuss some ways to moderate the reaction to a high salt intake. There are ways to help protect against any potential ill effects. This is a good one to listen to not only for the information, but as a way to begin the process of critical thinking. Things are simply not all what they appear to be, or what we are led to believe. And this concept hits more areas than just salt.
