Keeping the wheels turning -- post-lockdown cycling
from The Active Urbanist · host Matt Roebuck
In our first episode, we hear from women who have started to cycle during the COVID-19 lockdown about the barriers they have faced, and continue to face, such as safety, bike theft, access to a bike, the ability to ride a bike and maintenance. Dr Rachel Aldred, of the University of Westminster and Active Travel Academy; and Scott Cain, of RunFriendly, Active Things and Connected Cities Catapult discuss the potential options to address these barriers, including the ensuring we design cycle infrastructure for the 'non-cyclist' and the implementation of Low Traffic Neighbourhoods and their potential redefinition as child-friendly neighbourhoods. This episode was recorded before the publication of Gear Change, but addresses many of the topics raised in that document.
