Keeping Your Focus on The Process, Not The Outcomes

from Life, Living It and Loving It · host Gordon Done

In this episode, Gordon reflects on the lessons learnt from working towards and achieving his goals for running a half marathon and discusses the importance of adapting to enable you to not only survive but to thrive. If you are on your journey as a property investor listen in now to hear Gordon’s advice.   KEY TAKEAWAYS Learning from the half marathon I completed the full distance 13.1 miles prior to the race. It was a challenge to achieve the distance and a mental hurdle to overcome. I had set 3 tiers of goals to achieve and during training was able to achieve and move through the tiers. On race day I reframed my goal based on prior experience and was able to complete the race in 1 hour 53 minutes and 16 seconds. I beat my previous time and my last miles of the race were my fastest! It was the processes I put in before the race that helped me to achieve my goal. The environment was a very positive factor and helped all the runners. It was about focusing on training and doing the right things consistently.   The Japanese housing market Currently, in Japan 8.4 million homes are vacant, many are future homes or vacation homes however they are continuing to build houses even though the country has a shrinking population. Property developers and entrepreneurs are continuing to make money and have altered and adapted with their strategies to focus on the current gaps in the market.  They are now looking to the rise in the holiday home market. We go through property cycles and at each phase of the cycle, there are opportunities to make money. If you are able to change and adapt you should be able to not only survive but thrive in the market.   BEST MOMENTS ‘If you make a mistake it’s important to learn from it so you can make changes moving forward’ ‘It is about the process, not the outcome’ ‘It helps me to focus on the most important things’ ‘Even if you run into problems you have to get back on schedule and stay consistent’   VALUABLE RESOURCES The Property Entrepreneur Podcast   ABOUT THE HOST Welcome to the Property Entrepreneur Podcast.
