Kenilworth Chapter XIX

In which the convivial Black Bear Inn at Cumnor becomes the lively scene of discord and debauchery as Michael Lambourne, the boisterous nephew of the host, stirs both mirth and unease among the assembled company, while his companion, the grave astrologer Albumazar, remains a figure of sombre mystery. Amidst wagers and whispered plots, the pedlar Wayland is counselled to use cunning and stealth to gain access to Cumnor Place, where a reluctant journey unfolds under the shadow of uncertain designs.
