Kentucky Derby Update May 2nd, 2026

What a race at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky as Golden Tempo wins the 152nd running of the Kentucky Derby. After being behind for most of the race, Golden Tempo had a triumphant burst of energy after coming around the final turn as it would edge out Renegade for a photo finish. The rest of the results were Renegade finishing in second place; Ocelli came in third place and finishing in fourth was Chief Wallabee. History was made during this race with Cherie DeVaux becoming the first female trainer to win the Kentucky Derby. In addition, jockeys Jose and Irad Ortiz, Jr became the first brothers to finish in first and second place in the Kentucky Derby.
