Kenyan elections to go ahead tomorrow

from Midday Live Hosted by SAfm

There was shock from members of the gallery as Kenya's Chief Justice David Maraga announced that tomorrow's elections will go ahead as planned. Maraga, who was not wearing his official garb told the gallery that the court could not make a decision regarding an application by the opposition that the elections be postponed because of concerns that the Independent Electoral Boards was not ready to conduct free and fair elections. The Kenyan law requires that five judges sit for the Supreme Court to be properly constituted but it several judges were not available. Stephen Kirker spoke to our correspondent in Nairobi Sarah Kimani.
