August is over, and Kernels is going monthly. This time, Ian Price and Sean Duiser look at the split between a huge month at the box office and a much messier month on streaming. Spider-Man: Brand New Day carried theaters, The Odyssey gave August a second anchor, and everything else had to fight for space. On the streaming side, there wasn’t one clear August winner. Hulu, Peacock, Apple TV, Netflix, Prime Video and HBO Max all had titles moving through the charts, which made the month feel less like a takeover and more like a weekly “what are people watching right now?” scoreboard.
