Kevin and Curt recap the Bommarito Automotive Group 500, discuss IndyCar championship standings

from Trackside Podcast · host Trackside

Tonight on Trackside, Kevin Lee and Curt Cavin discuss Josef Newgarden’s fifth win of the season at the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 and where that leaves the championship standings with two races remaining. Kevin and Curt set up the next couple weeks of racing and what they are looking for with two road courses left on the schedule.  Newgarden’s fifth win of the season is also his 25th win of his IndyCar career. Kevin and Curt discuss the still relatively young Newgarden, his current form and historical pace. They talk about Newgarden’s frustration during the rain delay and Kevin’s interview with him on the broadcast. Kevin and Curt also discuss the end of the race.  Our News of the Day, brought to you by the Indianapolis Speedrome and Circle City Raceway, is that Michael Andretti announced plans to headquarter Andretti Global in Fishers. The plans detail a 575,000 square foot facility that will cost $200 million.  To start the second hour, Kevin and Curt discuss the possibility of a Drive to Survive type docu-series for IndyCar and other Twitter questions. The Trackside audience is thinking about the 2023 schedule release, specifically night races to avoid the heat, and that sparks a longer conversation about next year’s schedule. Kevin and Curt also talk about tire compounds in Nashville and the tire future in IndyCar. To round out the show, Kevin and Curt discuss David Malukas’ comments about his future and what we missed.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
